Company Actions cannot be performed

Alejandro Salek
  • Confirmed

Particularly, the actions from this tab cannot be performed normally for some reason. It has happened to me that performing some actions was possible from some companies, but those same actions wouldn't be performed from the other companies. For instance, I was able to sell some stockpiles but not others. Besides, something I never managed to do was to buy raws from that tab. Nothing would pop up when trying, so I had to do it the old way, but then I was told I was not allowed to buy/hold an amount larger than 5000.

Edit: I suspect that the companies that aren't working properly are those with final products coming in different tiers.

I haven't noticed any issues with any part of the CEO page. Can you please provide some more details so I can look into this further? If you can identify some companies (and actions with those companies) that are failing that would be a great start.

It's gotten worse. I can perform all actions with companies that don't have final products in different tiers, but when I try to do anything when the shown company sells tier 3 products, the only clicking that actually takes me somewhere is this. When I want tab menues to get displayed, they never do. When I click on something that would pop up a window, nothing pops up. When I try to scroll down, I only reach to viewing tier 2 product, but I don't get to see tier 3 products or who worked.

Please try taking company actions via the beta UI (https://beta.vnations.net), and check for any error messages after the tier 2 product. If there aren't any error messages, let me know what browser you're using as it may be a browser issue.

This happened to me using the Beta UI:

I was able to scroll down all the way the first time I tried with my food company, but I was not able to buy any raws from the CEO page. I suppose I was able to buy Power though. I got the pop-up message that there was no stock available. However, when I tried to buy Chocolate, both the actions I was first able to perform and the ones I hadn't tried yet would no longer work.

Then, with my Beverages company I was not able to scroll down all the way. I was able to sell my stocks, but then nothing else was possible.

I guess it's the web browser because I don't get any error message. I'm using Brave.

I've been unable to reproduce this on Brave, even enabling Brave's privacy "shields up" setting, so I'm a bit stumped. Can you please try hitting F12 when the problem occurs to open the browser console, and see if there are any error messages there?

Have you had any issues with icons not loading (anywhere in the UI, not just in CEO)?

I have different info that might help you both. I don't know if it has to do with chromium for Android, maybe that's your case. I never experience reportable issues with the browser I use with the computer, but I've noticed that I have some of what I see described here when I use my tablet. What I do see quite often is the message that says the site isn't safe and I might not be protected if I continue on it.

Thanks, I'll do some more testing on mobile and see if I can reproduce it.

Seems fine on my end in Edge, Brave and Vivaldi on Android..... but the 'site isn't safe' message you mention could be the culprit, as that will likely block the site from loading javascript which powers a lot of the popups/menus etc. Are you able to grab a screenshot when you get this message next?  Particularly if it has any sort of "more info" "details" or similar options.

I haven't had a computer in months. I use my phone and my tablet. They're both Android.

Might the stocks that I don't sell in the market affect in any way?

What's the equivalent to pressing F12 with mobile devices?

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be possible to access the F12 console on mobile devices (at least not without installing some other junk and changing device settings to enable debugging, which is aimed more at developers than end users). The stocks that aren't being sold shouldn't affect anything (if they did, it's much more likely you'd get an error message where the page stops loading, at least on the Beta site).

Do you have another browser you can test with on your device? Within Brave, do you make use of the 'Brave VPN' setting, or any other advanced (not enabled by default) privacy settings? (I don't normally use Brave so still have just the default settings).

@Tactician Beta I'm not entirely sure why you're seeing that error message, but it is unlikely to be related. That message suggests your browser doesn't recognise Lets Encrypt as a valid certificate authority, which itself is strange as it's probably the most commonly used authority on the internet these days. I may be able to troubleshoot more if you can look under the Advanced button, or in the certificate details screen (usually shown as a padlock or little card icon to the left of the URL bar), but that would probably be best in a separate ticket.

I only use the default settings. I haven't tried Brave VPN. For a moment I thought the problem was gone because I was able to perform some actions with one of the companies I had the problem with, but that didn't last long enough. Whatever the problem is, it's gotten back. I'll see if I can use another browser.
