V-World Cup 26 0

Football is the first team-based sport to be added to Virtual Nations. Each nation's Sports Minister may select a team to represent them on the football field. The first ever Virtual Nations World Cup will begin late July / early August, so start impressing your Sports Minister for the chance to play for Argentina.

Together we are waiting for this for a long time..

We only want to get the World Cup, and get the glory for our country!

I did this article becouse i dont see any battles this week and i am bored..
Have a nice day

or/and make it possible for allied nations to delegate a team together.

for example teams could be formed similar to orgs, but anyone could be a member who has a friendly CS.

anyone can form a team, then the sports minister has to approve it.

Found the document. The current design does indeed call for teams of 11 (10 on field plus goalkeeper).
In the next update, I'll finish off the pieces needed for a nations Minister of Sport to form a national football team from interested players. Once a reasonable number of nations have managed to form teams, I'll work on implementing the game code.

There are teams of 5 players (Five-a-side football) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five-a-side_football
I think we can try with National teams of 5 citizens, four outfield players and a goalkeeper and with 3 or more changes.

Booms Metralla Still looking for the design doc, but it was definitely not realtime (I learnt my lesson there with PVP WM ;))
From memory it was along the lines of option 3

Football is played also with fewer than 11 players, in smaller fields.
The real question is If:
1 - It will be real time! (very difficult to gather all the players at the same time)
2 - It will be turn based! (very chellenging to make good rules or any rules and decide the time per turn)
3 - It will be just random resolve! (relatively easy but it will be kinda lottery)

I vote for the 3rd option, maybe enriched with some preset team strategies and player tactics.

Even if nation have enough active citizens to make a team I doubt there is chance to get them online at the same time. Not to even mention different time zones.

We need nations with enough citizens to actually make a team before we can have team sports.
If your nation has enough players (trying to find the doc with the prototype rules, but from memory it wanted 11 team members) and isnt already listed, post a comment here. If there's enough nations I'll make the update magic happen

I was thinking like 4 years ago, to make a haxball cup. I am not sure If haxball still exists, but it was quite popular back then!
